Sybarite Society: Upwrapped at 23 Paul Street with Comité Champagne Prix
December is always a busy time in the social calendar. Sybarite Society gets the lowdown on the latest society events in London…
23 Paul Street Presents ‘Unwrapped’
Last week on 14th December, 23 Paul Street hosted a night of festive fun and frolics with their aptly titled party, ‘Unwrapped’.
The iconic house of striptease joined forces with the fabulous Fraulein Kink, Lingerie Lab, Loveday London, Rosie Von Boschan, Luvsense and 210th in a seductive event that brought erotic gifts, gorgeous lingerie and sensual entertainment to the venue. The party was alive with fire eaters, contortionists and masked beauties and guests were treated to ‘Mulled Mule’ and ‘Spiced Cider Bomb’ Christmas cocktails whilst the girls of 23 demonstrated the proper way to remove designer lingerie. Those that were more naughty than nice received a spanking from Santa Claus himself.
23 Paul Street puts the ‘tease’ firmly back into Striptease. An inspiring and artistic venue for only the most discerning of rogues and rascals, with three floors of dark corridors, secret doorways and playful spaces. Once a site where powerful men met to determine the price of gold. This stately townhouse remains a discreet pillar of society, albeit for slightly different reasons.
Comité Champagne Prix Champagne de la Joie de Vivre UK
Last week also saw the fourth annual Comité Champagne Prix Champagne de la Joie de Vivre UK event take place at Hush in Mayfair on 14th December.
Honouring swimwear designer Melissa Odabash, Champagne Bureau UK selected the former swimwear model, on behalf of Comité Champagne, as their first female recipient.
With her swimwear the preferred choice amongst the celebrity-elite and distributed in over 50 countries throughout 500 luxury department stores, resorts and boutiques, Melissa celebrated the honour with close friends such as Kelly Hoppen, Arnaud Massenet, Jackie Beltrao, Martyn Lawrence Bullard and Yasmin Mills.
Prix Champagne de la Joie de Vivre celebrates the enjoyment of life, an appreciation of Champagne and the talent of notable individuals. The annual celebratory evening has previously honoured renowned jeweller Stephen Webster (2015), milliner Stephen Jones (2014) and photographer Richard Young (2013).
The houses and growers of Champagne awarded Melissa Odabash with a magnum of Comité Champagne’s own exclusive Champagne, not available to buy, and a trip to the Champagne region as a guest of Comité Champagne, the trade association representing the independent Champagne producers and Champagne houses.
Raising a toast to her, Champagne Bureau UK’s Director, Francoise Peretti said; “ It was high time we celebrated the talent, success and exuberance of a female and we are delighted to celebrate Melissa’s contribution to joie de vivre. Her national appeal, style, talent, status and contribution to charitable endeavours, in addition to embodying Champagne’s values of enjoying life, make her a worthy receiver”.
Guests enjoyed a selection of Champagnes including; Champagne Bruno Paillard Brut Première Cuvée, Champagne Devaux Grande Réserve and Champagne Mandois Champagne Brut paired with a selection of sweet and savoury canapés in the private dining room, Blades, at Hush in Mayfair, London.
