Hare & Bone – A Sam Burnett Salon
Hare & Bone created by Sam Burnett, is an award-winning hair-stylist whose innovative designs have inspired international campaigns and global brands. Conveniently, the salon is located about five minutes from Oxford Circus and a short walk to Bond Street so it couldn’t be easier to get to.
With my cut and colour well overdue, I was looking forward to visiting Hare and Bone for a well-needed covering of greys and trimming of split ends. As soon as I stepped through the door I knew I was in good hands, the staff were friendly and my stylist Nathan knew just what I was looking for in my colour. Despite its super sleek interior – think monochrome fittings, exposed pipes and industrial-style lighting – there is a very relaxed atmosphere and it didn’t feel at all snooty.
Nathan listened patiently as I moaned about my greys and how cutting my fringe was the scariest part of any cut for me (I’m sure he’s heard it all before, but he did a good job at looking interested) before he spent a good while going through a selection of colours. We eventually settled on a glossing treatment that would give depth to my natural colour and also hide the lighter ends left over from my last trip to a salon. We also agreed to lose about an inch and a half off the ends.
Customer experience is at the heart of everything they do here. Clients receive a complimentary backwash, as well as beverages and nibbles to ensure ultimate comfort. (Sadly being pregnant, I was unable to enjoy the wine on offer). They also pride themselves on technical excellence and creative flair. Continuous education and development of the team ensure that Hare and Bone always bring cutting-edge and contemporary, wearable hair designs. They treat hair colour as an art, and therefore each member of the team is trained to the highest standards in all aspects of colouring.
Nathan introduced me to their Luxury Colour Club which for a small price gives clients the full-colour service, including treatments each time they visit and a shampoo and conditioner to use at home. Before and after my gloss was applied, my hair was treated with a range of Kerastase and Kerasilk products to help lock in the colour and give my hair strength. Following a lovely head massage, as my colour was taken off and a conditioning treatment applied, Nathan set about with the cut. From the start, he said that my hair was very much like his sisters, fine and straight (to me that means boring) so he understood that keeping it to all one length and not trying to do anything too fancy was the way forward.
As he began to blow-dry my hair I could see the colour coming through and it instantly felt more healthy and back to its normal glossy self. Nathan also added a bit of curl with the straighteners, just to make me feel special and to add a touch of glam. I was really pleased with both my cut and colour, even my fringe was perfect (now that’s a rarity). I would definitely recommend this salon, the vibe is fun, friendly and laid-back whilst maintaining high professional standards – plus a bonus for me is that they also do late nights.
