Corvastch at night - seen from St Moritz
ENGADIN ST.

The Cresta Run was originally built for the winter season 1884/85. Anyone who starts Cresta riding very soon gets hooked. The element of danger coupled with the hint of adventure is what makes hurtling down the Cresta Run on a toboggan so attractive and fascinating. Normally, the Cresta Run opens two or three days before Christmas and closes around the end of February or the beginning of March. During that time, over 30 top-level races are held. Nowadays, the average speed of the best riders is around 90 km/h (56 mph) from a standing start, with top speeds on the lower half of the run reaching up to 140 km/h (88 mph). It is amazing to think that throughout the ride the rider’s nose is a mere 15 – 20 cm (6 – 8 inches) above the ice-covered track!
