Bentley Celebrates 100 Years of Automotive Innovation
Iconic luxury car brand Bentley Motors is entering its 100th year of creating the world’s most iconic Grand Tourers, and the British company are marking their centenary year with the release of a short film ‘Together we are Extraordinary: The Story of Bentley Motors.’
In 1919, Walter Owen Bentley created a company with a simple objective: to build “a fast car, a good car, the best in its class”. This guiding principle has driven Bentley and his company ever since, growing the brand to make it the leader in automotive luxury around the world.
This commemorative film celebrates Bentley’s ten decades of innovation, achievement and craftsmanship and explores the extraordinary characters, sporting achievements and successful models that the brand has created since it was founded on 10th July 1919. The brand further honours their commitment to innovation and revolutionary processes with this short film, which uses real actors, 3D scanned and turned into digital ‘metal’ sculptures, along with Hollywood-grade motion graphics and stylised archive imagery.
Produced by Oscar – winning visual effects company The Mill, and shot using 4k ALEXA Mini camera technology, the film tells Bentley’s story from founder W.O. Bentley himself, right up to the new Continental GT.
The film starts with the striking imagery of W.O. Bentley touching an aluminium paperweight, which was the inspiration for his revolutionary aluminium piston design. The story then shifts to focus on a wall which comes to life and takes the viewer through Bentley’s journey of success.
Starring the legendary Bentley Boys and Girls and the Le Mans-winning ‘Blower’ and Speed 8, the film has also been inspired by the iconic shapes, textures and luxurious materials that have made Bentley the successful and enduring automotive brand that it is today.
This extraordinary milestone, reached by very little companies, demonstrates Bentley’s drive for innovation and their ability to adapt and develop over generations.
