Be Inspired: A Story About Positivity By Personal Trainer Callum Melly
I recently caught up with an old personal training client who has since become a good friend; in fact, both a friend and role model, as ever since our initial introduction and over the past few years, Steve Varsano has inspired and motivated me with his business success, humble yet exhilarating lifestyle and spontaneous approach to life, and today was no different.
Steve is one of those people you meet that just fuels your ambition and influences an infectious and overwhelming desire to be successful, not necessarily to earn a shed load of money, but to lead a life like his, full of unchartered adventure.
We sat in Steve’s sleek private jet….I mean showroom overlooking Hyde Park Corner, which is actually “the world’s first corporate aviation showroom” kitted out like the inside of a luxury jet where all the magic of his company “The Jet Business” happens. We conversed for about an hour, which absolutely flew by (no pun intended), sharing all things new in our lives, particularly my online virtual personal training programme “BODY IN 8” which was certainly influenced in terms of entrepreneurial ambition by Steve. As always, it was an absolute pleasure catching up, so much so that I was actually oblivious to the fact that I had exchanged the comfort of the luxury private jets sofa for a seat taking me back home. I had been distracted by a euphoric sense of ambition flowing through my veins and it reminded me about the importance of surrounding yourself with positive and like-minded people.
Steve is obviously a very successful business man who has certainly influenced my life; I remember how he used to wow me with his stories during our PT sessions, despite each one being interspersed by 60 seconds of exercise, it only heightened the tension and build up to the finale at the end of our one-hour workout. There was one story in particular that always springs to mind, a business deal in Venezuela, which I believe was actually his first jet sale and let’s just put it this way, it was like something out of James Bond.
The past 2 years have been a bit of a rollercoaster for me after a life changing event turned my world upside down; Steve was one of the people who supported me in some way shape or form during the lowest time of my life. Friendships and support are some of the most important factors to one’s health and wellbeing.
Remember, time is money and it’s important to know your worth, but this is something Steve has always overlooked with me, by giving me his time – which just reiterated to me the importance of making time for others. The fact is, you never know who you are going to meet in life; when you will next see them and from my past experiences which have ultimately changed my life, it has simply reiterated to me that you should always make every single encounter with everyone you meet a positive one. Always make an effort to stay in contact with people who have played an important role in your life and never burn any bridges, because you never know when your paths might cross again.
Always surround yourself with positive and like-minded people, be open to opportunity and experiences, know your worth but at the same time, understand what really holds value in your life and as I always say, look after yourself because a healthy body will promote a healthy mind.
